Sapele is a phototrophic tree. In Vietnam, Sapele grows mainly in Northern provinces such as: Lang Son, Son La, Lai Chau, Ha Giang, Quang Ninh, etc., and several areas in Central Highlands.
Sapele is used for veneer, doors, tables and chairs, kitchen cabinets, etc. Young leaves and bark of Sapele tree can be used for extracting attar and even producing bio-pesticide.
Products made of Sapele wood are commonly sold on the market with an equivalent price to other woods, such as: Talauma, Pomu, Padouk wood.
Sapele has a relatively high price:
+ Kiln dried type: VND 9 – 15 million/m3 (Grade: A, B, C)
+ Milled type: about VND 8.5 million/m3.
